How to Replace a Common Faucet

• You should have a monkey wrench, basin wrench and pipe wrench ready for replacing a faucet.
• For replacing the faucet, you have to first cut down the water supply. Close the main valve to shut off water. If you have a separate valve for the pipeline in which the old faucet is connected, you can shut down that valve alone.
• After cutting the supply, turn the faucet on so that you drain out all the remaining water in the system. With the basin wrench, remove the washers that attach the faucet to the cabinet.
• If you have any leaky valves, you can use the same tools to replace the valves also.
• Then attach the new faucet in the place and screw it up. Also use your hand to tight the new faucet. Make sure that the washers are placed in proper places when you attach the new faucet.
