Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool and it is not your mother's Maytag in terms of reliability. I purchased a top-loading washing machine in the Performa series and in 16 months, it gave up the ghost. However, not before a massive repair bill at month 14. During the time, it was operating, a set of very expensive sheets were ruin by oil when the basket drive failed. Poor customer service was the final straw. We are buying a Bosch. Be very careful of the Maytag brand. Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool and it is not your mother’s Maytag in terms of reliability. Had the washer for 14 months but we were out of the house due to a remodel for six of those months The basket drive, motor coupler and drive block had to be replaced (bill was over $300). Then it started to leak and the technician realized that the initial problem was probably due to a manufacturing defect that could not be corrected. A month later, the motor failed! This machine was not heavily used. Please note that Maytag is now part of Whirlpool. This is not your mother's Maytag! Be very careful ... customer is not good.
