Short History of MAYTAG
It was Frederick Louis Maytag who had entered the washer business in 1907 with the goal of building durable and lasting materials. Though the company has prospered over the last century, it has not wavered from following steadfast commitment to its quality. This is why these washing machines last longer than other washing machines.
Maytag built and introduced the first gasoline powered washer in 1915 and in 2000. The world’s first washer using touch screen controls was released by them as well. This washing machine has an on-board stain removal guide that helps clean all types of stains. Besides this, there are also many other models since then that been added to their range of washing machines.
Common Features
There are different features offered in all Maytag machines. However, the most common feature amgonst all Maytag machine is its one year warranty that covers both the parts and labor of the machine. This warranty does not cover damage to the machine through accidents.
Most maytag washers come with either a few wash presets or 12 which may include wool, hand wash and sanitary wash. Most of these machines have dispensers in them where some are used for bleach and others for fabric softeners. There are also some maytag machines (those more expensive ones) that have both dispensers.
Most of these washing machines come with three or five different temperature levels for you to choose from when doing laundry. A few of its newer series models come with a quiet operation feature which is appreciated by people who prefers a less noisy washing machine in their house.

Cloth items that I wash using my Maytag washing machine come out damaged.
The damage looks like it was due a shear rather than to a cut by a sharp object.
It happens with small or big loads.
Please advise or put me in touch with someone who can.
Thanks.

Avoid Maytag topload washer Performa MTW5740TQO; the Bravo series seems to have replaced the Performa series! Had the washer for 14 months but we were out of the house due to a remodel for six of those months The basket drive, motor coupler and drive block had to be replaced (bill was over $300). Then it started to leak and the technician realized that the initial problem was probably due to a manufacturing defect that could not be corrected. A month later, the motor failed! This machine was not heavily used. Please note that Maytag is now part of Whirlpool. This is not your mother’s Maytag! Be very careful … customer is not good.
Be very careful of the Maytag brand. Maytag is now owned by Whirlpool and it is not your mother’s Maytag in terms of reliability. I purchased a top-loading washing machine in the Performa series and in 16 months, it gave up the ghost. However, not before a massive repair bill at month 14. During the time, it was operating, a set of very expensive sheets were ruin by oil when the basket drive failed. Poor customer service was the final straw. We are buying a Bosch.
