Before doing anything, run an empty cold water cycle. While your washer is doing this, you might want to check the opened front panel for signs of leaks. Be careful not to touch anything moving or churning. Also make sure that you are not stepping on pools of water. Check the hoses for damaged parts.

Step 3: If there are no problems with the hoses either at the back or at the front panel of the washer, you should check the pump. When you use your washing machine, the bearings of the pump will surely wear out. Tell-tale sign of deteriorating bearings is not only a leaky washer but also a noisy washer.

If your Maytag washing machine is starting to produce noise in addition to spewing water, check the pumps. Replace the bearings. This does not cost a lot in the appliance store.

Step 4: The last place you will search is the stem and seal part of the washing machine. You can find this in the holding tank of the washer. Notice any signs of water trickling from the steam and seal and running down the transmission’s center. The thing is, if you have to replace the steam and seal, you should also replace the tub bearing. This is to prevent further damages.

However, replacement for the steam and seal can be costly and installation is done by an expert repair man. But if you are handy with washers, you can do the installation yourself and just purchase the parts needed. The stem and seal currently costs roughly around $110.

There are a lot of things you can do to cut back on repair costs and that is through thorough and regular maintenance. Once a month, check your Maytag washing machine for signs of wear and tear. You should not use a pipe plier to fit in the fill hose at the back of the washer. This will only tear the rubber seal which will cause washing machine leaks. Use your hands to tighten it securely. If it is slippery, use a dry towel for better grip.

As you know, buying a new Maytag washing machine is a lot more expensive than maintaining one. In addition to that, choosing a good washer is also a hard experience especially now that there are a lot of washer brands out there that fail to function for a long period of time.
