Magic Chef Washing Machines Reviews

Magic Chef washing machines are produced by an American appliance company that makes several different models and sizes of washing machines. Its brand name is owned by Maytag, another old and trusted American brand.

Why Buy Magic Chef?

This American manufacturer offers a mid-priced line of washing machines with models that suit the needs of every household. It has a long history of providing appliances to American families and offers a network of both internet and telephone support. Magic Chef range of washing machines have a reputation of long-life, and people often replace them with new models long before they have stopped working. If it does require repair, it usually takes standard parts that can be used with any American washing machine.

Short History of Magic Chef

It all began in the 1850’s as a company who produced state of the art gas stoves, which they called “quick meals.” In the 1870’s, this company began to make other appliances as well as stoves, and by 1901 they had formed the American Stove Company as the parent company for their various brands of appliances. One of these brands, Magic Chef, came out in 1929. They became a household name more through their popular stoves than any of their other products, before launching other product lines that would offer the same kinds of innovation and quality as they were becoming known for on the stove-market.

Common Features

The features of Magic Chef washing machines differ from model to model. Some models have only one alternate setting—permanent press—while some have up to eight, including delicates and wrinkle-free. These washers can have either three or four possible water levels—with one model having up to twelve water levels– and each model comes with a fabric softener dispenser and bleach dispenser. Washing machines by Magic Chef are made to be quiet during a wash cycle. They come with an extra-rinse feature and a twin-cycle engine. Many of the models come with a one-year warranty.

Performance/Ratings

Most Magic Chef washers gets generally favorable reviews on consumer websites. However, some people have complained that their machines will simply stop running in the middle of a cycle, refusing to spin, or that the water overflows and will not drain. Several other complaints mentioned that the machine was very loud, especially during agitation, even though Magic Chef equips its washers with a noise-control package. This is especially true of older models, which still work well, but tend to be noisier than newer models. So if you are looking for a second hand washing machine by them, do remember this point. Several consumers also commented that their machine sometimes leaks out the front.

Popular Magic Chef Models

Magic Chef washing machines come in eight different models, with volume capacity levels beginning at three cubic feet and getting larger from there until it reaches industrial sized. All of the models are top-loading, but vary in the number and kind of features they have. Each of these models comes only in white.
