General Electric Washing Machine Reviews

General Electric washing machine is made by one of the most truly American companies still operating successfully. It has been an innovator in bringing new products to people at prices they can actually afford.

Why Buy GE?

GE is constantly looking for ways to improve their appliances so that their customers can have access to the best technology available. GE also offers warranties from 1 to 10 years. They have a wide variety of washers to fit the needs of different households, and their brand name is well-known.

Short History of GE

The General Electric Company began in 1907 with the introduction of a full line of heating and cooling devices. After that it introduced new products every few years, quite often becoming the first company to invent and produce appliances that we can’t imagine living without. Some of these include the refrigerator, the electric range oven, the air conditioner, the garbage disposal, the washing machine, the dishwasher, and the two-door freezer/refrigerator combination. Those inventions were only in its first 40 years. Since then, in its past 50 years, GE has produced the washer/dryer combination unit, the self-cleaning oven, the refrigerator with ice and water dispensers in the door, the portable air conditioner, and the Space-Maker microwave oven. In the past 20 years GE has used cutting edge technology to consistently improve its products so that its customers reap the benefits in convenience, economy and efficiency.

Common Features

There are several different types of General Electric washing machines, but they all have similar features. They have a capacity from 3.2 cubic feet to 4 cubic feet. They may have only a few presets, such as hand wash and cotton, or they may have as many as 32 presets. They can include extra rinsing, extra spin, and quick wash, and they come with automatically set water levels so that the washers will sense when the drum is full and quit filling. Most of them come with quiet operation settings, bleach dispenser, and pre-wash dispensers. Some of the washers have dial controls, while some of electronic touch control pads. At least three of the models are Energy Star compliant, meaning that they attain levels of energy efficiency that qualify them for this rating.

Performance/Ratings

Reviews of the various models of the GE washing machines on different consumer sites are quite favorable. People who have purchased GE washing machines write positively about the machine’s reliability, long-life, quiet wash cycles, water temperature, and gentle treatment of clothes while still getting them thoroughly. Many customers wrote about the value for the money.

Popular models

General Electric washing machine comes in several different models, including five top-load models and two front-load models. Each of these comes in white, except for one of the front-load models (WCVH6600H) which comes in black, and two of the top-load models (WPRE6100G and WPGT9360E), which come in metallic and have stainless steel interior drums.

I am looking to buy a top-loader and have 2 in mind that consumer reports recommends as good buys. They are GE wjre5500g(WW) and
Maytag mtw5800t(w), which I believe is now mvwc500vw? Any thoughts on these? Which one is better? Maybe you can recommend one better than these 2 for around the $500 range? Thanks.
