Electrolux Washing Machine Reviews

Electrolux is another well-known appliance manufacturer. However, this company makes it a habit to experience real life situations and problems, making products that actually answer to both aspects. It is for this reason that Electrolux has become one of the leading manufacturers of not only the Electrolux washing machine, but also other common appliances.

FabricGlow

The FabriGlow Electrolux washing machine is another smart little machine. With a large load capacity, it also features many features such as rat mesh and a softener and bleach dispenser. The time remaining indicator will digitally tell you how long your load has left to wash. The lint filter will help trap any lint and debris from the clothes, insuring that your clothes are always clean and ready to go. This washing machine also features delay start, smart soak, and several fabric cycles perfect for all of your laundry needs.

Pros and Cons of An Electrolux Washing Machine

It really depends on what type of machine you get from Electrolux. Many people enjoy the quiet features of the machine, along with the durability and capacity levels. With some Electrolux washing machines people have found that coins or any type of metal objects on the clothes or left in the clothing may be cause for damage to the washing machine. If this occurs it is noted that the warranty available on the machine will not cover this type of event. Another complaint from Electrolux users is the fact that the machine generally costs much more than counterparts. However, if you really look at the machines and all of the features, in addition to the quality of the product, you will find that sometimes it is worth paying more to get more.

I bought a front loader Electolux washer and dryer about 3 months ago. Within the first month, I noticed gray rubber shavings all over the boot. Turns out, the boot was rubbing against the drum. Someone came out and replaced the boot and ran it through a cycle and it was doing the same thing. I’m on my third washer because of the same problem and assuming this is a design flaw which is unfortunate because I really do like the washer. I know 2 other people who are having the same problem. I guess they will have to back and now I have to find something that works properly . I am very disappointed! They are very expensive machines. I’m not at all impressed with the Maytag Neptune washer that we had to replace after only having it for 3 years because of a design flaw!!

  • Feryal says:

    Dear Mary,

What is the model number of the Electrolux washer and dryer that you bought 3 months ago?

    Thanks,
    Feryal

  • hello! I would be interested knowing which Electrolux model Mary purchased; as I am considering buying an Electrolux front load washer at this point.

  • Chrissy Gundersen says:

Do NOT buy an Electrolux front load washer!
Mine is less than 2 years old and I have been run the mill for over a week now trying to get a part that is on “back order” one moment and “being overnighted” the next.
My machine stopped working because the door lock is broken and the washer registers that the door isn’t shut.
Yesterday I received a part I am not sure belongs to anything.
Today I received a black door handle that goes to an oven.
Oh but there is great news. Electrolux will gladly offer you a rebate of 60% so you can go buy a new washer. Buy a new washer just 2 years after you bought theirs.
Yesterday I also called to find out how to override the test mode because I was told I could then use it.
I was put on hold and passed around 7! times because nobody wanted to assist me with the problem.
I am going to do whatever it takes to make them recall this junk washing machine.
After all, if this wasn’t a problem for a lot of people, why is the part on a 3 and a half week backorder?

  • Nathan Gibson says:

I have had the same problem as Mary, the model is EIFLW55HIW. The boot (or gasket) rubs against the drum during the spin cycle. This results in rubber shavings getting into clothes. The store that I purchased the machine from exchanged the first unit, but the second unit had the same problem. Then they replaced only the boot in the second unit, but again the problem was there. Finally they brought out a third unit that they inspected (but did not test) in their shop. It, too, has had a problem. The store has contacted the Electrolux rep and they have no suggestions for repair, and can only offer my money back at this point. I really like the machine otherwise (and it is one of the few front loaders that will fit in the space that I have). I have tried to fix the boot by putting shims under the seal. This stopped the rubbing in two places, but now rubbing has started in two other places.

  • reesa says:

interesting on the rubber shavings…i decided to search as i am waiting for the repairmant right now. This happend w/ the very first load i did. I don’t understand how replacing the boot is going to help either and am considering returning my units as well. Although, i love everything else about them.

My plan is to discuss w/ the repairman and make a decision from there. I can see where the boot,or bellow makes contact w/ the drum and causes the problem.

I wasn’t happy that i had to wait till i received the part before i was supposed to schedule service. The service people did end up calling me, but i would have been mad if i weren’t able to wash my clothes…

I have a Wave Touch front loader set. About three months after purchase, the pump failed with a load of washing in the washing machine. I wasn’t able to drain it,
so the washer soon smelled awful, and two weeks later, after many calls,to the service department, the dealer replaced the machine.
I was told the parts would be there quickly, but they never did show up.
About two weeks after I received the
new machine, the spring on the soap tray stopped working. After my first
experience with the service department, I elected to just do it manually,
rather than have to talk to them again. I will have it fixed if the machine requires further servicing. In the meantime, it is working well, but it is disheartening to pay so much for these machines, plus pedestals, only to find they are not really all that well made.

I bought an Electrolux washing machine Model#EIFLW55HIWO two (2) months ago! Almost every individual reviewing it said they loved it! It looks good, is quiet and doesn’t use much water, BUT, almost every piece of clothing, bedding or whatever else I was starts pilling & appears to be fuzzy, as if it has broken the material fibers!
Electrolux said “it should not be doing this and it’s under warranty”, so they had me call a local appliance store! When the repairman comes out his inspection is running the machine a few minutes to see if it puts in normal amounts of water! No running the machine with a new garment or sheet to see how it causes pilling & how the garments feel like wool against your skin because of tearing up the fibers! He also suggests using different soap & a fabric softener! I’m trying that & still having pilling & fuzzy clothes! At least $550 worth of damaged clothes, both old & new! What’s the deal Electrolux? Please HELP!

  • Candice says:

I too, have just recently purchased an Electrolux front loader washing machine. I am so disappointed. Straight away I noticed the damage it has done to my clothes. The clothes from my first child that have been washed constantly for three years undamaged, are now looking 10 years old due to the scratchy feel, and accumulation of pilling! Not able to be handed down at all.
I never had to use fabric softener with my old top loader, so don’t feel I should have to now. I have tried three different brands of washing powder.
The only difference I can make to the feel of the clothes is using the extra rinse cycle, and putting vinegar in the fabric softener tray. This helps with the softness, but the pilling is still a big problem.
I payed around $700 for this..and am considering on cutting my losses, selling it and finding something that wont wreck our clothes.
    The model is EWF1074

  • anne says:

I recently bought an Electrolux EWF 1074 and am very dissatisfied with the wash results.Despite 2 calls to the manufacturers customer support and using numerous wash combinations including the extra rinse, my clothes are stiff and the towels have lost their fluffy feeling. I too an considering cutting my losses and buying another brand

  • calvin says:

I bought an electrolux EWF 10741 and it didn’t work on the second time it turned on! Hows that for a brand new machine!! The repair man from electrolux came and concluded that the electronic board has failed and went on to replace it. On the third use, we detected mouldy really bad smell from the interior. Called the repairman and was told that the machine sometimes doesn’t get the liquid detergent into the wash well and he showed me how an excess pool of liquid detergent had accumulated under the detergent tray! Hows that for design! And now within 1 month of acquiring this machine, I noticed that there is alot of lint on the clothes! What is happening!?

  • cielo says:

our 3-month-old electrolux frontloader EWF85661 locked itself and started an unspecified cycle. no clothes inside. knob is on o. all buttons, including the start/pause, aren’t lit up. it’s been 3 minutes. door hasn’t unlocked yet. what’s up with that? our 20-year-old electrolux frontloader wasn’t as smart, but it wouldn’t act this creepy. what a waste. clearly disappointing.

  • Cyndee says:

We bought an electrolux frontloader EIFLW55HIW just a little over two years ago. Fortunately we purchased a service plan because the door lock has been replaced three times. The third time was yesterday and I washed three loads of laundry and it stopped working with the same problem! The service man called Electrolux and they told him that I was the only person that had this problem and that I must have caused it by slamming the door. I am upset and frustrated because this shouldn’t happen with a new machine AND because they had the nerve to say that I caused it and they didn’t know about the problem. I have done some research and I am hardly the first person to experience this issue. Plus that machine wasn’t cheap and I don’t mistreat it. Is that how Electrolux treats their customers–lie and blame them for Electolux’s faulty design? I won’t buy another one of their products. Oh yeah-Electrolux also makes Fridgidare washers and their frontloaders are having the same problem.

  • Geoff_Julie says:

We bought an Electrolux EWF1087 Front Loader just over 2 years ago (Nov 08) and it had been quite a good machine, altough wash cycles are long. Recently, it starting making noise and the repairman said that this model has massive problems with the bearings – they just wear out and the machine makes noises and leaks. On top of this, they are not economical to repair – so I am looking at having to replace a near new machine. It just seems wrong and I believe that Manufacturers need to be accountable for build quality. All this talk about being environmentally friendly & the landfill is crammed with these type of products. My previous Hoover front loader lasted 20 years – yes, it broke down a few times but was always easily repairable. Unless Electrolux come to the party and provide support to people who have lost out (ie just out of warranty) – the Electrolux brand will suffer irrepairable damage. With the internet and on-line reviews like this, your reputation can die very quickly. Give the quality and the support and you will do well.

I bought a front loader washing machine EWF12480W (7kg) in China (coz we are base here) in July 2009 and have a 3 year warranty service. In less than one year, the front lock is broken. The serviceman replaced the part from inside the drum, he took the rubber ring out, pulled open the rubber to get to the lock. The lock plate was burned and the cable connected to the lock was also turning brown. I was very concerned and asked him so and he convinced me nothing to worry. Few days ago, it broke down again and finally, the Electrolux serviceman came yesterday. (A different one this time). This man knew his job compared to the 1st man. He unscrewed some nuts at the back, lifted up the top lid, this is where he could get the lock plate out easily which seems to be the right way of opening up the machine. I am just an ordinary housewife but I could see he is correct. The 1st man did it from inside the drum!!! Anyways, the lock plate was completely burned out and the cables connecting to the plate have burned for at least 3 inches long. I peeped inside and I could see all the cables are well connected without any extra lengths hanging. This man says he has to order the new plate and cannot give me the answer how long this will take to arrive. I then queried with him on the burned cable. He says he can cut those burned bits off and extend them by joining extra length. I am not happy coz by doing that, over time, those cables will play up again.
By then, my 3 years warranty is up! Why this is so for ELECTROLUX and in China, its so expensive for imported brands. Very very very disappointed customer ME.

Hi there i purchased an electrolux about a year ago, and am now having problems with it. yesterday i go to get a load of laundry out of the machine and the door locking/unlocking mechanisim kept going on and off until it eventually stopped so i could open the machine. it has never done it before today. Now when i go to do another load of laundry after turning the machine off at the power unplugging and replugging the machine and turning it back on, the door will now not lock/seal so it can start a cycle. It just keeps bleeping making the same locking/unlocking noise.
Has anyone else had this issue?
I have lost the receipt for the machine but do have the finance statement with the date of purchase on it, i purchased it from the good guys, im hoping if i go down there and give them the date of purchase that they will be able to print out a receipt.

but it would be interesting to know if anyone else has had this problem.

We have tired everything. They guy at lows said it’s the best washer ever but it’s the worst. I never want a front loader. If u know what I am talking about where it wobbles can you tell me what I should do. I really would like to know what it’s problem is. I will never buy another front loader again there a lice of crap. I am going back to a top loader like the good old days. I know they work great because my sister and mom have one. I really hope they’ll fix ares soon cause I can’t do lanudry at all

Hi all…I’m a Malaysian and I am about to buy a front loading washing machine to replace my old one. I have 2 brands in mind, an Electrolux, EWF10741 and a LG, WD-MD7010DC. Wonder which one is better and worth buying? Though my 1st choice is the Electrolux, but after reading these reviews makes me think twice before making it a final decision. Hmmmm….

  • ellie says:

DON’T BUY AN ELECTROLUX FRONT LOAD WASHING MACHINE. The entire product is defective. A $1200 piece of junk!

    Enough said.

I bought mine Electrolux front load washer almost 2 yrs ago. After about 3 months I noticed mold inside the seal. I was told I had to keep the seal super dry and wipe after every use. Lets get real, I have 3 kids and work. There is little time for all the wiping. I wish I knew about this problem before. Never would have purchased this model or any front loader .

  • Anthony Ripley says:

I bought an Electrolux front load washer, model # EIFLW55IRR and it has worked fine except for the rubber shavings a few others have reported. Obviously a design flaw. We just dealt with it. The rubber wore a hole in the boot. It is under warranty so we called Electrolux warranty service. They referred us to the only place in Temecula, Ca. Accord appliance repair is the name. He comes out and says we will order the boot and that it should be in about a week later. 8 Days later: we called him back and it wasn’t ordered!! now it will be another week and then he would schedule an appointment. (All the while he recommended not to use the washer.) Are you kidding me? Absolutely pi$$ poor planning and bad customer service. I wouldn’t recommend this guy to anyone. If Electrolux is going to certify a shop, it better have good customer service or they are just exponentially turning your customer base away. Meanwhile we are getting ready to move in a couple weeks and are still waiting on incompetence. Other than the rubber shavings I like the set, but I wouldn’t recommend this particular washer due to the inherent flaw design.

    Hi
We have an electrolux EWT806 front loading washing machiine. Just having trouble with starting a wash cycle. it comes up with ERR and will only start on the Eco-Rinse cycle but stays stuck at the same number of minutes (leave it going, but it doesn’t decrease in minutes). Does anyone know how to wipe the remaining minutes on a cycle and restart the wash cycle? have never had this problem before.

  • Chris says:

I have had my Electrolux set (red) for almost two years and they have worked flawlessly! They are amazingly quiet, super efficient, and ultra fast! I love the Steam setting! Bummer that most of the time people write reviews on appliances only when there are problems… I just stumbled upon this sight trying to figure out how to do a rinse only cycle, but felt that I needed to share how pleased I am with what I believe is the best washer and dryer on the market! I have three other extended family members who all love there e-lux sets. That is four total sets humming along with out any problems! Buy with confidence! If you think I’m wrong, then do a Google search on any appliance for reviews and you’ll find more of the same… a handful (relatively speaking) of jilted people; not many satisfied customers, because when things work… life is too busy to report, after all the squeaky wheel gets the oil. Hope this helps.
    Cheers~

Hi There! Prior to my last posting dated April 3, I have happy news to say about Electrolux. I went to the store on april 5th where I bought my washing machine from (this is a respected large chain all over China). I brought along all my receipts and the notes that I had done on repair and went straight to their management office. My mandarin is not good so they know I am not a local person. We sat down and talked and they were very compassionate on my case. I requested for a new replacement and say I am willing to pay for the price difference if the newer model is more expensive. I insisted I do not want my machine to be fixed as it will eventually breakdown again and by that time, my 3 year warranty will definitely be over. Then they say to me to give them 3 days to come back with an answer. On the dot of the 3rd day late afternoon, I got a call from the store to say that they are willing to replace me with a new machine. Well, I immediately went to the store that same afternoon. Nowadays, Electrolux products also come from Thailand. They offered me the one that is Made In Italy. Model No: EWN12488W. (Of course, by now, this model is not new anymore but does not matter) Yes, this model is slightly more expensive than my old one and I was very happy to pay the difference and got a new machine the next day. Customer Service has been a delight for me and not only I have 3 years Worldwide warranty effective April 2011, they also give me another 3 years ‘the store’ warranty, effective after the Worldwide, means I get 6 years.^^ So far, the machine works like a bliss. Overall, I must say I am happy with Electrolux. I have always used Electrolux products in other places and will have no hesitation to buy Electrolux in the future. Chris, I agree with your words!

I was unfortunate to have been talked into purchasing an Electrolux washing machine two years ago. It never really worked properly from the start. Not washing the clothes properly and dumping built up rubbish on the cloths on a regular basis. It got to the stage where it would not drain the water or if it did it would not spin the clothes very dry at all. Our technician has sent three reports to Electrolux advising them that the machine cannot be fixed. The machine is under warranty and Electrolux just tell him to try and fix it even though it can’t be fixed. He has spoken to other local repairers who also say they are having the same problems with this type of machine. I feel that Electrolux is just hoping that we will just go away and buy something else.
I have been without my machine for the past seven months and have had to borrow a cheapo washing machine that is worth about a third of the price of what I paid for the Electrolux, which does a better job of washing my clothes than the Electrolux ever did. I will forever tell everyone I know not to waste their money buying an Electrolux washing machine. All I can say is I will never waste my money on an Electrolux product again.
